Before you take your dog on holiday, you must familiarise yourself with the rules that apply in the country you are going to and when you are going back home. This also applies to trips to Denmark. In order to be able to bring the dog to Denmark, the following requirements must be met:
- You must travel with the dog yourself. In certain cases, you can authorise someone else to travel with the dog.
- The dog must be identified with a microchip.
- The dog must have an EU pet passport, issued by a veterinarian.
- The dog must have a valid rabies vaccine, given at least 21 days before departure to Denmark.
In Denmark, you must also have dog liability insurance, which covers cases where the dog causes damage to people or things. There are also certain dog breeds that are banned in Denmark. You can obtain more information about this from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.
