From November 2024 Fjord Line started to implement MFA ( multi Factor Authentication ) for users that log on to Fjord Line Agent Web.

Then your are logged in and can use the portal as beforePassword Manager with MFA possibilities
If you have a Password manager installed on your Computer to handle your Passwords, you can in most cases use that Password Manager as your MFA method.
Password managers today do more than just store passwords — many of them include built‑in authenticator features that generate time‑based one‑time passwords (TOTP), similar to apps like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator. This makes it possible to use your password manager as an MFA tool.
Why Use a Password Manager for MFA?
- Centralizes your passwords and MFA codes in one secure, encrypted vault.
- Reduces dependency on a single physical device (e.g., losing your phone).
Allows secure backup and sync of MFA tokens across your devices.
Step‑by‑Step: Using a Password Manager for MFA
Step 1 — Install a password manager that supports MFA codes (TOTP).
Most modern managers include an authenticator feature.
Step 2 — Enable MFA on the service you want to protect.
In your account’s security settings, choose “Set up 2FA / MFA” → usually shows a QR code.
Step 3 — Add MFA in your password manager.
In your vault entry (e.g., “Google Account”, “Microsoft Account”):
- Click Add 2FA / TOTP / Authenticator
- Choose Scan QR code or paste the secret key
- Save the item
Step 4 — Use the generated 6‑digit codes when logging in.
Your password manager now acts as both:
- your password vault
- your MFA code generator
Step 5 — Sync your vault securely.
This ensures that if you lose your device, your MFA tokens are still recoverable.
Note: For maximum security, some users still prefer separating passwords and MFA (e.g., using an external authenticator). But for convenience and backup resilience, integrated MFA via a password manager is widely used and supported.
Some examples of PasswordManagers that offer MFA support:
-NordPass
-Keeper
-Bitwarden
-1Password
But there are others as well. Fjord Line can not Recommened any, as this has to fix each usecase and pricepoint. Most Password managers are easy to set up and activate.
